World Lacrosse Championships

The World Lacrosse Championships are now underway in London, Ontario. Like the football, basketball and field hockey world tournaments being held this year, the World Lacrosse Championships are a once-every-four-years affair.

The United States is competing and has won its first two games. The wins have come against Iroquois Nation(competing independently) and Japan.

Field Hockey World Cup

The World Cup of soccer is not the only WC being contested in Germany this year. The men's Field Hockey World Cup is September 6th through 17th in Monchengladbach, Germany. The US has not qualified and has never participated. Germany is the defendeing title holder as well as the host, having won the 2002 World Cup in Kuala Lumpur.

The women's Field Hockey World Cup will be held in Madrid, Spain September 27 through October 8th. The US women will participate. The best American finish was 3rd place in 1994. Argentina is the defending champion, having won the 2002 tournament in Perth, Australia.

Basso & Ullrich excluded from Tour de France

The 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers from last year's Tour de France have all been excluded from this year's event because of doping violations.
