South Africa defeated England 15 - 6 on Saturday at the Rugby World Cup to win the championship.

National Lacrosse League Cancels 2008 Season

The national Lacrosse League, an indoor (or box) lacrosse league has canceled its upcoming season after the rejection of the collective bargaining agreement.

The league has 14 teams throughout the US and Canada.

The First Annual International Transcontinental Foot Race attracted 199 men to the starting line in Los Angeles in a race to New York, overland by foot.

Kenyan Wins Chicago Marathon

Patrick Ivuti beat out Jaouad Gharib at the finish to win the Chicago Marathon Sunday October 7. The race was notable for the very warm October weather. The two men crossed the line at 2:11:11, and the winner was announced a few minutes later.

Berhane Adere won the women's division with a time of 2:33:49.

USA finish Rugby World Cup 0 - 4

The American team finished World Cup play with a 65 - 14 loss to South Africa on Sunday. The Eagles lost all four games and are finished with the tournament. All was not gloom for the Eagles however, as winger Takudzwa Ngwenya scored a 85 meter try just before halftime. Ngwenya, a native of Zimbabwe, stunned the crowd in Montpellier by outgunning South African star Bryan Habana for the try.

USA Beat Norway 3 - 1

The American team finished the Women's World Cup with a 4 - 1 victory over Norway on Sunday. Germany defended its 2003 championship by defeating Brazil 2 - 0 in the final.
